A Council of All Beings
June 27th | 1-4PM ET | Somerville Community Growing Center
(Rain day: June 28th 2:30-5:30)
The Council of All Beings is a beloved deep ecology practice created by Joanna Macy and Australian rainforest activist John Seed. In the Council of All Beings, we’ll use our imaginations to inhabit the point of view of a more-than-human-being: an animal, plant, natural element, or geographical feature. The beings will meet in a council circle to discuss their lives and the state of the world from their perspective, and to offer gifts to the humans. This playful and powerful practice is designed to deepen our understanding and compassion for all beings and strengthen our resolve to act on their behalf. The afternoon will also include a guided meditation, songs, easy mask-making, and teachings from the Work That Reconnects. No need to prepare in advance- we’ll allow our more-than-human beings to choose us in the moment!
The Somerville Community Growing Center is a wonderful urban outdoor space dedicated to community gardening, education, and gathering. This event is part of their Climate Convening Series.
Registration coming soon.
If you are a WTR facilitator and have an upcoming workshop in the northeast U.S. that you would like us to list on the regional workshops calendar, please fill out and submit this form with your event info.
