You Are Earth
May 29th | 7-8:30PM ET | Zoom
We belong to each other and to the living body of Earth. Nothing can separate us; we are already home. Joanna Macy
This program is a repeat of the same one that Anne Goodwin offered on April 22 for the Interhelp Spring Seasonal Session. It was so well received that she will be running the same program again on May 29th for anyone who was not able to attend on April 22nd.
Let’s take a moment together to remember that we are part of the living body of Earth. With that in mind, our actions on behalf of Earth are not altruism that requires us to be “good”, but healthy self-interest that flows naturally from that wider sense of self. In this 90-minute gathering, we’ll touch on some ideas from science and philosophy, experience a guided meditation that will expand our sense of self, and be nourished by music and poetry that celebrate our interconnection in the web of life. (This is a repeat of the Earth Day offering of the same name. For a continuation of the theme, come to Living in Earth on June 24th.)
Anne Goodwin was first privileged to work directly with Joanna Macy in 2012. She has since attended and led many Work That Reconnects programs, and completed a yearlong facilitator training through the Work That Reconnects Network. She has offered the work to groups including religious congregations, students at Harvard and Boston University, climate activists in Extinction Rebellion and the Sunrise Movement, at Rowe Conference Center, and in many community settings. She served for several years on the board of Interhelp, which supports the community of the Work That Reconnects in the Northeast. She is a singer and song leader with many years performing experience on the New England folk music scene, and she delights in weaving songs into her workshops. She recently retired as a leadership coach with Mothers Out Front, a grassroots movement organizing mothers and others for a livable future.

Join us for an ongoing series to share and witness our grief about what is happening in the world these days. This session will be facilitated by Interhelp Board member Joseph Rotella. Living in Earth
June 24th | 7-8:30PM ET | Zoom
The Earth is not something outside of us. Breathing with mindfulness and contemplating your body, you realize that you are the Earth. You realize that your consciousness is also the consciousness of the Earth. Thich Nhat Hanh
When we are feeling powerless or overwhelmed by the state of the world, it can be helpful to remember that we are part of the living body of Earth. As such, we can take action with all the authority of our 4.5 billion years of evolution! In this 90-minute gathering, we’ll connect with each other, touch on some ideas from science and philosophy, engage in a practice that will expand our sense of self, and be nourished by music and poetry that celebrates our interconnection in the web of life. Facilitated by Anne Goodwin
