Work That Reconnects Facilitation
The Work That Reconnects is offered freely as an open-source body of work. The theory and practices of the Work That Reconnects are described in Coming Back to Life by Joanna Macy and Molly Brown with tips for facilitation. However, it is encouraged that one has first experienced the work facilitated by someone else or attend a facilitator training (some options for this include courses offered through School For The Great Turning; Spiral Journey Facilitator Development Program, or those offered by Margo Van Greta) before attempting to facilitate a given practice.
When facilitated well, this can be truly powerful and transformative work. In order to steward this work with care, a growing number of Work That Reconnects facilitators are committing to expand their awareness of and skill with responding to how oppression inevitably arises in social spaces, so that we may make this work even truer to its name for all who are in the room. The forthcoming book Coming Together in The Great Turning: Collective Liberation and Work That Reconnects offers reflections and guidance from seasoned Work That Reconnects facilitators from around the world on how to update our facilitation practices to better avoid and address common oppression dynamics. The book is due out November 25 and is now available for preorder.
